The second session of ‘for the listen to live here’ workshop series is guided by Kai Hazelwood, a transdisciplinary Disabled, Black, and queer artist and researcher, and embodied healing practitioner. Centered in her body-based practice, Kai’s work spans artistic, activist, healing, and community projects that reimagine how we make sociality. In her collaborative art projects, she celebrates queer identities, center Disabled and chronically ill QTBIPOC communities, and actively unravels embodied white supremacy.

Continuing the exploration of neuroqueering approaches to sociality, this second session takes the form of a playground for slowness, hybridity, and togethering. Happening simultaneously online and offsite, it is inspired by the wisdom of snakes and creatures who shed their skin and Disabled wisdom of virtual togetherness.

Whether online or in person, you will be invited to create your own adventure: through in-space facilitation at If I Can’t Dance and through a beautiful virtual world created by Hazelwood’s friends at Garden, a 24/7 virtual community center designed for BIPOC folks who are practicing pandemic safety. With one foot online and one offline, you will slow-dance with snakes, play with reptile time, as well as watch and/or listen to a collection of readings, recordings, and songs curated by Kai Hazelwood over the last few years in part as a Research Fellow at DAS Graduate School.

Participants require no prior experience with movement and installation to participate. Drinks and snacks will be offered throughout.

14:30–15:30 hrs — Reptile Time: facilitated live for online and onsite participants
